Who is Budjinga for?

Individuals, freelancers, contractors, and small teams who want clarity over personal and business money without spreadsheet chaos.

Can I create an account today?

New signups are coming soon. You can browse the product, read How it works, and use Contact if you want a note when accounts open. Existing accounts can still log in.

Is there a free plan?

Yes. Budjinga is freemium. Start on the Free plan with core budgeting tools. Paid plans add extras such as reports, extra workspaces, and statement import. Compare options on the Pricing page. We do not fund the product with ads.

How do I use Budjinga day to day?

Each month: record income, set limits on budget items (what each rand is for), then log expenses as they happen. Use Recurring for standing bills. They sync into Budget, but you still log the payment when it goes through. Check the dashboard weekly. Keep personal and business money in separate workspaces if you have both. See How it works for picture-led paths.

Do I need to install an app?

No app store install is required. Budjinga runs in your web browser on phone, tablet, or desktop. Bookmark it like any website.

Can I sign in with Google?

Yes, when Google sign-in is enabled on the site. On login, Google only works for an existing Budjinga account. On register, Google can create a new account with your chosen plan.

What currency does Budjinga use?

The product is built around South African rands (ZAR). Billing is in ZAR via PayFast. The pricing page can show other currencies as a convenience. Your books stay in rands.

What is the difference between Budget and Recurring?

Budget is where you set monthly item limits and track spend. Recurring is where you define expected income and standing bills. Recurring pushes those debit totals into Budget. You still log the real payment as a transaction when it goes through.

What is Spending money on the Budget screen?

Spending money is your leftover cash for the month: income minus your other budget item caps. Day-to-day expenses can land there without reducing those other planned limits.

What are budget items vs categories?

Categories group your spending (Food, Transport). Budget items are the specific lines you budget for (Groceries, Petrol). Items link to a category and carry their own icon and monthly limit.

How do recurring debits sync to my budget?

Standing items in Recurring push debit totals into Budget for the current month and forward, so limits stay aligned with what you expect to pay.

What are savings goals?

On eligible plans, savings goals track targets with a date or a fixed monthly amount. Progress syncs to budget categories so savings show alongside everyday spending.

If I skip a month, is my history lost?

No. Past transactions and categories stay in your workspace. Set or adjust budgets whenever you are ready.

How is this different from my bank app?

A bank app shows what left the account. Budjinga is where you decide what the month is for, then check whether that is what actually happened. You type transactions yourself, or import a file on eligible plans. There is no live bank login.

What are workspaces used for?

Workspaces keep data separate. Use one for personal money and another for business or contract work so transactions and budgets never mix.

Can I export my transactions?

Yes. On plans with the transaction ledger you can export CSV from Transactions or Reports for your records, accountant, or tax prep.

What does the Reports hub include?

Premium plans include cash-flow charts, spending mix, budget vs spent, month comparisons, insight cards, and CSV export. Figures are in ZAR.

What is contractor mode?

On the Contractor plan, you can keep a separate workspace per job or client so each contract has its own budget and transactions.

Do I need to connect my bank account?

No. You do not connect a bank login. Enter transactions yourself, or on eligible plans import a CSV, Excel, or bank PDF you download from your bank.

Can I import a bank statement?

Yes on plans with statement import enabled. Upload a CSV, Excel, or bank PDF, review the lines, then add them to your ledger. This is file import, not a live bank connection. Uploaded PDFs are processed on our servers and removed after a successful extract.

How do PayFast invoice payments work?

When billing is enabled, unpaid ZAR invoices can include a Pay now link. PayFast notifies Budjinga when payment succeeds and the invoice is marked paid automatically.

Can I upgrade or change plans later?

Yes. Compare plans on Pricing, choose a higher tier, and upgrade from the app. Prorata billing applies on paid upgrades where configured.

What is your refund policy?

Paid invoices follow the Refund policy. If something looks wrong on a bill, use Contact and we will look at it.

Can I cancel whenever I want?

Yes. There is no contract and no cancellation fee. Ask us through Contact to move back to the Free plan and your books stay in your account. Refunds on an invoice you already paid follow the Refund policy.

Do prices include VAT?

The price you see is the price you pay. Budjinga is not a registered VAT vendor yet, so no VAT is added at checkout. If that changes we will say so before it affects any invoice.

How do I pay, and do you see my card details?

PayFast takes the payment: instant EFT, card, and mobile wallets. You enter card details on PayFast, not on Budjinga, so we never store your card number. Billing is in South African rands.

Is my data private? Can other users see my budgets?

No other customer can see your workspaces. Your books belong to your account only. Traffic uses HTTPS. Read more in our Privacy Policy.

Do you sell my data or show ads?

No. We do not sell your personal or financial data. We do not run ads in Budjinga, and we do not use your books to target advertising. The product is freemium: extra tools are paid for with a plan, not with your attention. See our Privacy Policy.

How do you keep my data safe?

Passwords are hashed, not stored in plain text. Sessions expire. Optional login emails tell you when a new sign-in happens. Workspaces are isolated in the app so one customer cannot open another customer's books. We are a South African company with a named Information Officer. Details live in the Privacy Policy.

Can I export or delete my account?

You can export transactions as CSV from the app. To close an account, use Contact and we will help you from there. Our Privacy Policy explains what we keep for legal and billing records.

What are login notification emails?

An optional security email when your account signs in, with device and time details plus links to change your password or sign out other browsers. Toggle under Profile โ†’ Security.

What tools sit beside Budget?

On eligible plans: wishlist, grocery lists (aisles and progress), notes you can pin to the dashboard, a spending planner, and My Calendar for personal reminders, when site settings enable them.

Is there a dark mode?

Yes, inside the signed-in app. The public marketing site stays in light green so it is easy to read on a first visit.

Can my partner and I share one login?

Each login is one person. If two people need the same books, they would share that password, which we do not recommend. A cleaner split is one account per person, or one person keeps the books and exports CSV when needed.

Where do I see planned maintenance?

Check the public Network status page (linked in the website footer). We post updates there before planned work and during incidents.

How do I get help or send feedback?

Use the Contact form on this site or the in-app Feedback button when signed in. We read every message.
